Supporting
We were very excited to support the incredible students of Walnuts School Sixth Form, with their social enterprise scheme.
They launched a pop up shop near Waterstones during November and December 2022, selling beautiful handmade plaques. The students have since been back selling their handmade products for Valentines Day, Mothers Day, Easter, Thank You Teacher and Pride, with more dates booked in for Christmas. It's been wonderful to see the students embracing this retail opportunity and to see their pride as they reveal their new handmade product ranges at each seasonal visit. Rebecca Brown of Walnuts School said: "The pop-up shop has targeted certain skills that are key to employability, such as communication, teamwork and organisation. It has provided our young people a safe place to practise these and more. The biggest gain for our young people was an insight into the working world and the expectations that come with this. It has allowed our young people to build their confidence and get used to the routines of work and its demands. It has given them a chance to practise timekeeping, maintaining the right appearance, and building relationships with colleagues."
