Safari in the City Baby Rhino

Say hello to Ivy, one of the youngest members of our Safari in the City trail.

Baby rhinos may look tough, but they're playful, curious and stay very close to their mums while they learn everything they need to survive. Watching a young rhino grow is an incredible sight and highlights just how important conservation is for these amazing animals.

A newborn rhino calf can weigh between 40 and 65 kilograms, making them one of the biggest babies in the animal kingdom.

Young rhinos love to play, often running, jumping and chasing each other as they develop their strength and confidence.

Mother rhinos are incredibly protective and will stay close to their calves, teaching them important survival skills and defending them from danger.

As they grow older, young rhinos become more independent before eventually leaving to establish territories of their own.

Every baby rhino represents hope for the future of the species.

Conservation organisations around the world work tirelessly to protect rhinos and their habitats, helping future generations continue to enjoy these magnificent animals in the wild.
